Curing the brain by rTMS therapy?

Öffentlicher Abendvortrag

In recent years there has been great excitement in using non-invasive brain stimulation techniques, such as repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) to treat a wide range of neurological and psychiatric conditions. In his talk Michael Ridding will briefly describe the development of rTMS techniques, and how their therapeutic potential has so far been assessed in a number of conditions. He will give his perspective on the limitations of the approaches so far employed and suggest ways in which the therapeutic opportunities of rTMS techniques might be maximised.

Michael Ridding obtained his PhD at the University of London (1996) and is now the co-leader of the Neuromotor Plasticity and Development (NeuroPAD) Research Group at the Robinson Institute, University of Adelaide (Australia). This group‘s research interests involve the induction of functionally beneficial motor system plasticity as well as the influence of early life experiences on neuromotor development.

Moderation: Professor Dr. Thomas Platz, BDH-Klinik Greifswald
